I also have this problem. My Kenmore electric range # 790.90113013 oven control panel is not working. I got a new one but the problem persist. Since we are in lockdown, we prefer to do it ourselves as far as we could. But don’t know where the problem is or if it is the new oven control panel that’s damage.

Stove top works but oven and broiler won't heat up but the gas glow is working it's a kenmore gas stove 790.70402012

My stovetop works fine, but I have nothing on the digital display and unable to use the oven, timer, etc.

On my 790 Range , stove tops working, but oven inside doesn't heat no more than 100° f , I checked the elements , and all 3 are good, what part could be bad ?

- de

I manually cleaned my oven. Now the display shows a small “lock” the oven is not locked but none of the controls will work. The upper element is at about one hundred degrees and the light will not turn off

Cause 1

Incoming Power Problem

Electric ovens require 240 volts of alternating current. Gas ovens require 120 volts. If an oven won't turn on there could be an incoming power problem. To determine if the electrical outlet is providing sufficient voltage, use a multimeter to test the incoming power at the wall socket.

Cause 2

Thermal Fuse

If the oven gets too hot, the thermal fuse trips to shut off power to the oven. If the thermal fuse has blown, the oven will not heat. However, this is not a common occurrence. To determine if the thermal fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test the fuse for continuity. If the thermal fuse does not have continuity, replace it. The thermal fuse cannot be reset—if the fuse has blown, it must be replaced.

Cause 3

Loose or Burnt Wire Connection

One of the wires that supply power to the oven element or igniter might be burnt out. These wires commonly burn out near the heat source. To determine if a wire has burned out, inspect the wires leading to the element or igniter. If a wire is burned out, it will often be visibly burnt.

Cause 4

Relay Board

Some ovens are equipped with a relay board. The relay board has several relays which control the electrical current to the heating element. If one or more of the relays on the relay board has failed, the oven won’t heat. If the relay board is defective, replace it.

Cause 5

Oven Control Board

The oven control board has relays that send voltage to the bake and broil circuits according to the user settings and sensor input. If the control board is defective, it may not send voltage to the heating components. However, this is rarely the case. Before replacing the control board, first test all of the heating components. If you determine that all of the heating components are working properly, replace the oven control board. Since it’s not easy to test the oven control board, you will have to replace the control board if you suspect it is defective.

Where can I get a control board to replace?

where is the the thermal fuse located. I have a 16 year old Kenmore Stove and my oven is not working as well. The glass top works fine but when you turn on the oven and set the temperature the oven will never heat. I took the back panel off and cannot find a thermal fuse anywhere. I am not sure if I'm looking in the right place. Could the thermal fuse be located under the glass top of the stove. Need Help. I have check the power coming in with a volt meter 240 and both top and bottom elements in the oven and do not see any cracks, breaks, or burn marks. The only thing that looks kind of charred is the back of the light to the stove. The bulb was burned out so I did replace it.

My oven had this. Cause 5 was my issue. L2 output from the board was not putting out any voltage so the element was only getting 120v. I took the board out and noticed a melted solder joint. I resoldered it and it seems to be working now. I’m not a circuit board wizard but this was a major solder joint on a main relay so it was well within my capabilities.

Hi @James Jarvis

What is the model number of the oven?

If the temp in the oven doesn't go higher than 100 F and all the elements are OK then it appears to be a problem with the oven temperature sensor.

can you come fix it

Hi @bledwards6

Ifixit does not do repairs.

Its volunteers offer advice on how to fix it yourself if possible.

What is the make and model number of the oven?

790.45072400 Glass top works fine oven itself isn’t working.

My oven is not working but the broiler does and the top does can you help please

@brendac2534 model of unit? So we can look up diagrams? You need to check if you're getting voltage to the lower element. If you are, then do a continuity check on the element as I have seen them go out. If not, you'll need to check your controls and see if they are sending power to the coil.

Hi @robertmulvihill

Here's a link to the wiring diagram for the range, that may help.

Click on the 2nd wiring diagram to the right in the page, as it shows the oven wiring. The 1st diagram is a more detailed wiring diagram of the surface elements etc.
