Black screen is seen with flashlight and works with external display

Hello good morning, I just turned on my Macbook pro 15" 2015 model: A1398.

I was reneging for a while until I could see with a flashlight the log in screen, logged in and put in an hdmi cable, and everything is working except the screen that is still the same, in fact I'm sending this message from the macbook.

You know what it might be?

'''++Facundo Panizza++'''  you do want to go ahead and check the parts on your board. You need to get to the logicboard so follow this guide to get there.Use this guide Reemplazo de tarjeta lógica de MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2015 for that. Check the board and see if it has an 820-XXXX number on it. this is important since there are a few variations. Take some good pictures of your board etc. and post those with your question. That will allow us to see what you see. Use this guide Agregar imágenes a una pregunta existente for that. Check the display cable to ensure that it is properly seated and that the connector is not showing any damage on the pins. Then you want to start by checking the backlight fuse for continuity and check if you have power going to it. This will be tricky since you are going to power the computer on. Do not shorten other components out while testing it. Let us know what you find.

I'm sorry for the long delay, I leave the data you had asked me hopefully serve something, not get to see any corrosion, just a few stains near the load pin

I think the 9700 fuse is not walking, because I used the multimeter and gives me 0, to use it with other fuses, gives me varied numbers

- de

Facundo Panizza do not worry about any numbers. Just check it for continuity https://www.swe-check.com.au/pages/learn...

- de

Well, it didn't give 1, say 0.00.

- de

okay sounds like a bad fuse. Replace it and check the circuit since something caused the fuse to blow. Check your connector make sure there is no corrosion or damage on it.

You’ll need to check the backlight fuse and you might need a new backlight LED driver chip as these tend to fail.

Hi Facundo,

To me it sounds like your backlight went out on your Macbook. I would look into a possible replacement, but before you order another one. I would check into seeing if it just came unplugged or the cable for it went bad. That way you do not waste your money on another screen if that was not the problem.

Best Regards,

Drew.

@takkaz what kind of backlight would you purchase for this and which cable may have gone bad?

Screen light is burned out or inverter is out.

Will need repairing by a technician.
