I had the same problem, and I just put it on and pressed 10 sec or so the on button and it's reset. This help me and now is working all fine :)

What a load of nonsense. How many customers has Bose peed-off enough with this ghastly oversite. I have gone through hours of updates even using ADVup/down and it stays in sleep mode. Even after multiple successful updates.. Complete and utter nonsense. And now waste time trying to get a hold of C/S. Wish me luck folks.

Follow that procedure:

The following last resort worked for me to solve the red flashing light issue:

1. Download the software updater package

2. Connect the speaker to your computer with the USB

2. Go to the http://btu.bose.com site

3. Wait until it connects to your speaker and gives the software version

4. Whatever happens, you need to update the firmware (either upgrade or downgrade). That's what does the necessary reset.

5. To downgrade, you need to press these keys in order: 'a', 'd', 'v', 'up arrow', 'down arrow' and all of a sudden alternate versions appear.

6. Upgrade or downgrade. Makes no difference.

7. At about 80% you'll see the red flashing light go orange and there are beeps and things

8. You're done.

I checked this solution 5 minutes ago and it worked.

Thank you so much for this! This is brilliant - the a,d,v, up arrow, down arrow saved my speaker! This is actually the second speaker we bought, and wish I had found these instructions before I sent my first one to recycling.

According to Bose, plug it in.

Bose SoundLink Color Troubleshooting

Battery Protection Mode

The Bose SoundLink Color goes into a battery protection mode if it has not been used for fourteen days or more, in order to preserve the battery. To remedy this, connect the speaker to A/C power mode in order to reactivate the system.

Hi @nanda_mfb ,

You just connect the speaker to the AC charger that came with the speaker and allow the battery to charge. It may take up to 3 hours to fully charge.

what is ac charger

Hi @katiepiddo ,

The AC charger is another name for the adapter that you connect the device to and then plug it into a wall power outlet to charge that battery in the device.

Click on the image above to see how to charge the battery.
