Hi,

I am not able to understand why my Nexus 5 screen doesn't work properly. It seems that the phone is working as I could hear some notifications. What could be a fix for this problem?

Hi @mgupta70 ,

Has the phone been dropped or gotten wet at all?

Hi,

The phone hasn't been under any water or physical shock/damage.

Still I am facing this problem. And it is not a software problem, I believe. I tried all sorts of resetting techniques.

I am not sure what to repair, the flex cable or replace the LCD/touch assembly entirely. Any help in this matter is appreciated!

Solución Elegida

Hi Mohit @mgupta70 a screen just going bad doesnt happen very often without a catalysis . SO lets assume the worst and start to tear it down as if we are going to replace the LCD They can be purchased onebayfor as cheap as 30 dollars This guide can help with the teardown

Reemplazo del ensamblaje de pantalla LCD y digitalizador del Google Nexus 5

But as were not sure this is the whole problem examine the logic board closely as you tear it down . Look for corrosion or discoloration .Next make sure all cables are connected securely and correctly as you disconnect them. Look for rips or tears in ribbon cables check for cracks in any folded ribbon cables. Check for any changes in color and or burn marks . If all seems fine then proceed with the screen replacement . Hope this helps

Thanks for your comment!

I have ordered a flex cable first to try and fix this issue. I will do a complete teardown as you suggested and look for faults in case I am not able to solve this problem by just replacing the flex cable.

Thanks a ton!
