It looks like it's a cable as in Step 10 here: IBM ThinkPad X41 LCD Screen Replacement

or in Step 12 here: asus laptop k75vm replacing the broken lcd cable Replacement

This one's actually a Toshiba, if it makes you feel better. Step 7, middle picture: Desmontaje del Toshiba Satellite A215

Basically, it's likely not soldered down but do be careful when unplugging it. The pictures above should give some idea of how to do it, but I'd also say to throw in some patience.

Thank you so much for your answer. I can't see how to unplug it....whether it is pulled straight up....slid to the side, etc. Is there a video somewhere that actually shows how to remove it?

@marie540 Here's a video of someone removing an LCD cable from a Dell laptop (skips to the important part): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_99jpJe....

And here's a video of someone replacing an LCD cable in a Toshiba (skips a fair bit, but it's a long and slow-paced video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzB4S6hq...

At about 15:32, he says that the cable eventually failed, and opens it up, if you're interested in that. You can see that the wires are frayed and broken, and he recommends opening and closing the laptop as little as possible to reduce the strain on the wires in the hinge.

Hope this helps!
