To make sure you have this exact model please locate the name of the model on the back of the device. This should be located in the middle, on the back, in white bold letters. Hi,

Here is a link to the ifixit repair guide for the battery for the player. It is handy in that it shows how to open the player so that access to the USB port is possible.

Here is an image taken from Step 3 (2nd image) which shows the connector.

It is possible to change the connector, however you will require the appropriate soldering skills and tools to perform the task. Also the hard part may be finding the correct replacement part. There are a lot of mini USB female connector configurations available. (Different number of pins -4 or 5, location of holding lugs etc.)

Here is a link to one supplier (This one may be suitable I'm not sure though that the "lugs" which hold the connector to the pcb are in the correct spot and also it might be upside down to the version that is installed already). It is not a recommendation to use them, it is shown to give an idea of the cost of the part. There may be others online that suit you better.
