Replacing the touchscreen controller?

Hello,

is it possible to replace the touchscreen controller on the original Shield Tablet ?

I saw the guide on the site but, unlike in the guide, on my tablet after removing the ribbon from the motherboard, the other end is still 'glued' to the screen.

Any help from the people who wrote the guide maybe ?

That is where the heatgun or hairdryer comes into play! You want to have either a heatgun or hairdryer, and set it on low setting and medium heat and keep an inch away from display so you don't destroy LCD or any components leading the tablet to be useless. And apply until you believe the screen or glue are warming up and loosening. Be very careful with this process or take to someone if you don't feel comfortable doing so which thousands of people do! No one blames them! But doing so warms up the glue/adhesive so it can come apart and you can continue doing what is necessary for the repair. Hope this helps!

hanks for your reply.

Can you confirm my understanding: I should use the heatgun to heat the area where the controller ribbon is glued to the screen ? Aren't there any electrical connection between the ribbon and the screen itself ?

just glue ?

And to put another controller on the screen, I "simply" have to glue it ? does it have to be very precise ?

I'm not wanting to replace the whole screen again, simple the ribbon I damaged during the previous "repair".
