Garmin watch incorrect time

My Garmin Forerunner 630 now shows the time 8 hours and 11 minutes behind the correct time. That could be the time the battery was flat. I then had real difficulty pairing with my iPhone but it's now paired.

I have done soft and hard resets of the watch and removed and reinstalled Garmin Connect. I've changed time zones on my iPhone. That changed the time on my watch but it's always out 8 hours and 11 minutes. I've manually changed the time on my iPhone but that had now effect on the watch. I've done multiple data transfers with Garmin Connect but that didn't help.

Any thoughts?

Update (04/29/2016)

Found how to reset time under settings and clock on the watch. Obvious, really

Update (04/29/2016)

Actually, it's not fixed. The question remains.

I can manually set the time, but if I set it to automatic it shows the wrong time.

Any thoughts on fixing the automatic feature?

Thanks jayeff! I wrongly thought the time was from the phone not the satellites.

I tried but it doesn't work.

If the hour sync by itself my hour is wrong but my appointment have the right time. If I manually set the time all my apps have the wrong time...

what can I do

Bummer watch! I can't seem to fix the problem of my Forerunner 235....I find it too complicated! I can't figure out how to set the time. Please help! I've tried to set it via GPS but still can't correct it.

Hi @spiros85

To set the Time Manually

Select Menu > Settings > System > Clock > Set Automatically > Off.

Select Set Time, and enter the time of day.

By default, the time is set automatically when the device acquires satellite signals.

Time Zones

Each time you turn on the device and acquire satellites, the device automatically detects your time zone and the current time of day.

Check that Select Menu > Settings > System > Clock > Set Automatically > ON.

If you are not getting the time set automatically, go outside in the open and wait, it could take up to 2-3 minutes to acquire satellite signals to set your watch. If the time hasn't automatically been set after this amount of time (assuming that you have the Time automatically set to ON then there may be a problem with the watch's GPS function..

I was having the same problem, although I reset the time, it continually would change to a time which was off by several hours (not sure how many). what I found was that I had synced and loaded a new version, however when I unplugged my garmin and was asked if I would like to "update now", I said no because I was going for a run. Garmin connect showed I had the most current version, but my watch showed a prior version. I had to go in and manually select "update" or maybe the options is "install", once that was done, the time reset by gps

Hi,

Have you checked that the GPS setting is activated? When the time setting is on Automatic the watch derives the time and date based on the GPS position signals it receives from the satellites.

If you have got the GPS enabled and the time is wrong try the suggestions in the troubleshooting section on p.14 of the user guide regarding Improving GPS Satellite Reception and Acquiring Satellite Signals and see if this solves your problem.

Here is a link to the User Guide.

If that doesn't work check to see if there are any software updates available or perhaps you can try reinstalling the software version that you are using now, in case it has been corrupted.

Here is a link describing the procedure. See the Note regarding using Garmin Express

I got the same problem today, watch showed wrong day and time. I went out and turned on the activity mode, waited till GPS is available (green bar). Afterwards, the time finally shows correctly, only the steps is not synced, it was reset and shows a different value as garmin connect.

i not sure i found the fix. This happened to me when i downloaded and used other watch face (ActiFace by Petr.koula)

1) connect my garmin forerunner 735 with USB to my laptop.

2) Manage App

3) choose the watch face, it should have a setting button

4) Edit the timezone to the correct time zone

had this issue. Went in and manually set the time usiing the process above.

Then I turned on GPS and set my location for one of my apps.

Then I turned the auto Time format back on. And it seems to be corrected now.

I had the same problem when the watch battery died. This was my solution- not sure it's the most efficient. First, go to settings. Second, select sensors and finally select compass. The watch will then instruct you to calibrate (move watch in a figure 8). Good luck

this morning the clock on my forerunner 230 was 17 minutes ahead but also showing the day before's activity level. Even when I changed the settings for the clock to a manually set time, it was stuck on the day before's activity as current day activity. For me the solution was a quick drive in the car, where I timed the drive as a run, a new GPS signal was acquired and the clock set correctly and the activity level from the day before was gone, so device advanced to "today"

Restored defaults on the watch. Removed the device from my phones Bluetooth list. Repaired the watch with my phone. In the all settings set location services on to always. Problem solved
