Preguntas 350 Ver todo

Microwave runs as soon as door is opened.

Model# JVM1740DM1WW I think the issue is in the interlocking door switch. Is there a way to check what each switch(there are open/closed/2 terminal/monitor,etc.) does? I do not have a voltage meter, and would prefer not to have to check each switch with one. I can't afford the service/repair fees,so need to repair it myself. Thanks,Ann

Ann, sorry but you will need a multimeter to check. also, please remember that microwaves can carry some pretty deadly current. So if you have never worked on way, I would opt out of it. Try to either find somebody that can fix it for you, or save up for a new one.

Ann, I don't know if this will work for you, but we had the same problem. We put in a glass of water, turned on the unit for one minute, but hit the "cancel" button before the time ran out. That took care of it, at least for now. Don't know yet if it's a permanent solution.

Thank you for that answer! I'm so glad I tried that before I went through all the trouble of checking and changing switches, etc. Your answer should be the first one!

I have the same problem and I noticed that this solution works for me also. I didn't specifically put in a glass of water. Whatever the next thing I was heating up, if I cancel it instead of waiting for the time runs out, that seems to fix the problem. Unfortunately it isn't a permanent fix. We get the problem again after some time...

I had the same problem and this worked for me.

Thanks for you answer, so far so good!

I just had the same problem. I had just finished heating water that overflowed. I was about to give up searching for an answer because most of the solutions pertained to the door switches. Problem is solved for now. Thank you.

The door is not faulty (really, there are no active components on it *to* go bad - the door just has two injection-molded plastic switches which perform as actuators to engage/disengage switches-- the only way they'd "go bad" is if they snapped off).

There are three switches- the primary, secondary, and interlock - and one of them has gone bad. You can use the diode mode on a standard multimeter to test which one it is. For my GE XL1800 it was the Omron V-15-2C26-K which I picked up from Mouser for 2.50$. This seems to be the common component that fails on most models. (The failure mode is the switch's spring steel retainer keeping it NO/NC loses it's elasticity for those who are curious). If you don't have a DMM to test the relay, $2.50 from Mouser/Digikey/whatever is a gamble I'd be willing to take.

http://www.microtechfactoryservice.com/s... seems to have more information. I didn't read through it but it had "discharge caps" in their preamble so the rest of the page likely has relevant safety precautions.

Hi,

My switch is Panasonic KW3-0D-A(471) black color. Is it different with the other switches? What is the difference between monitoring switch and primary/secondary switch? Can I replace my monitoring with other kind of switches (with same pinout)?

- de

Hi @likediy ,

Here's some information regarding the 3 switches.

No, you cannot replace the monitoring switch with the other kind because it is the reverse of the other two, i.e. switch is open when door closed, other switches are closed when door closed

You have a faulty door, it will need to be tested and replaced, there are no microwaves coming from the machine when the door is open and it is running. If you do not find the solution then you can replace your model.

One warning is : DO NOT operate the oven with the door open!

Is it safe to use microwave when turntable starts when opening door

I slammed the microwave door hard several times and now the turntable turns only when the microwave is turned on. Low tech solution!

I have the Whirlpool version of this microwave. Like many have reported here it began running as soon as I opened the door.

It worked normally otherwise. I tried cancelling the cook session before it ended as many have done with a cup of water but that did not fix it.

What fixed the problem for me was unplugging the microwave and opening the door, then plugging the microwave back in with the door open.

Let's hope this doesn't happen a bunch since mine is built-in and unplugging it is not a simple procedure.

Thank you Justin! Your suggestion worked for me. I left the door open and plugged it in. Voila! the problem is gone. I believe this works if it is a control panel issue and not anything to do with the switch or the door itself. This trick somehow reset that and is working fine for now. Appreciate you sharing this.

I have 2 Panasonic machines got same behavior. Just change the interlock switch, and it solves the problem. You can open one by one of 3 switches and visually see if there is any damage, if not then use ohm meter the check. I stock a few switches at home now (they are generic and compatible) in case the problem happens again.

Unplug it from the power. Put your food in then plug it back in. Only works if you can reach the power cord. Then throw out your microwave and buy a new one.
