The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL is a Windows Phone developed by Microsoft Mobile. It was released to the public early April of 2015. Its predecessor is the Microsoft Lumia 640, but with the XL’s creation it offered a higher resolution front-facing camera, higher processing speeds and an assortment of available colors such as the matte cyan, orange, and black, along with glossy or matte white. AT&T was the only mobile company that offered the Lumia XL in the United States.
The Lumia 640 XL smartphone is 157.9mm tall, 81.5mm wide and 9mm thick and weighs 171 grams. It features a 5.7 inch display screen, five megapixel wide angle front-facing camera and a thirteen megapixel rear-facing camera. The front-facing camera features video calling, video recording and still image capture. The rear-facing camera features auto focus, digital zoom (up to 4x), LED flash with ZEISS optics and video recording with resolution in full high definition at 1080p along with continuous autofocus. The Lumia XL is preloaded with Windows Phone 8.1 and with Lumia Denim. It is updatable to Windows 10 Mobile.
The phone offers 8 GB of storage and 1GB RAM along with a replaceable 3.8V battery. The device also offers security options such as an access code, lock button, remote lock and swipe, backup, tracking and the ability to restore via the internet. The Lumia XL is also compatible with many accessibility features for visually, hearing and physically impaired consumers. The phone offers TTY support and vibrating alerts. It is Bluetooth neckloop compatible, and includes voice recognition, font magnification, high contrast mode, speakerphone, along with many more functions.
The Lumia 640 XL was replaced with the Lumia 650 in February of 2016.
