Wacom Intuos4 Won't Turn On
Device isn't turning on and the device status LEDs are off; Computer doesn't recognize there is a device plugged in
Broken Cable
If the device isn't turning on, it's possible that the cable connecting the device to the computer is simply broken. Try replacing the cable and try again.
USB Port Coming Loose
A common issue surrounding older models is the USB port is coming loose, causing the port to either short out or come unresponsive. It is possible to readjust the port, however it's recommended to either contact Wacom support or to get assistance at a local IT store.
Wacom Intuos4 Won't Connect To PC
You have confirmation that the device and the wire is working, however your computer doesn't recognize the device.
Drivers Need Update/Reinstall
Outdated drivers on your computer could cause your computer to not recognize the device. On Windows, go to the search bar on the bottom left of the screen and type "Device Manager". Click any of the drop-down options and right click on one of the options and select the "Update Driver" option. You may have to reset your computer to fully reset the drivers.
Wacom Service Needs Restart
The Wacom Service is the driver that your Wacom device uses. Your device not connecting to your PC could be caused by this driver being outdated or in need of restarting. Please follow the Restarting Your Wacom Services Driver guide to restart your Wacom Service.
Touch Ring Unresponsive
Device is working as intended; however, the touch ring won't respond to inputs.
Test Touch Ring
There are many possible underlying causes for why your touch ring is unresponsive, and this guide will hopefully help. Please follow the Testing Touch Ring (wacom.com) guide to test your touch ring.
Replace Touch Ring
Your touch ring is still a physical object, meaning the underlying cause could be a hardware issue. To fix this, you will have to replace the touch ring itself.
Touch Screen Unresponsive
The device is connected to the computer and the express keys are responding, but the touch screen won't respond to your pen.
Drivers Need Update/Reinstall
Outdated drivers on your computer could cause your device's screen to not function properly. On Windows, go to the search bar on the bottom left of the screen and type "Device Manager". Click any of the drop-down options and right click on one of the options and select the "Update Driver" option. You may have to reset your computer to fully reset the drivers.
Unresponsive Pen
Your device's screen may seem unresponsive if your pen is unresponsive. Please refer to this guide to help diagnose the problem.
Device Reset
It's possible your device was compromised in some form and a reset is required.
- Reset the device on windows by first plugging in your Wacom Intuos4. Use the search function by clicking on the windows logo in the bottom left. Enter Wacom Desktop Center in the search bar and open up the program. From here choose Backup settings from the options in the left pane. Click the new option labeled reset settings and confirm by clicking on reset.
- To reset on a Mac first open the finder application and click applications. From here open the option Wacom Tablet then select the new option Wacom Tablet Utility. A window called Wacom Tablet Utility should now appear. Finally select remove and restart your computer.
Bent Touch Panel
It is possible that your device's touch panel is bent and is in need of replacing.
Express Keys Unresponsive
Device is working as intended, but the express keys aren't responsive.

Key Replacement
It's possible that there's a hardware issue with your device's express keys. To fix this, you have to replace the device's express keys.
Cursor Won't Appear
When hovering the pen over the tablet, no cursor is seen.
Windows Ink Conflict
Some versions of Windows 10 will cause the cursor to become obscured. To fix this, go to Wacom Tablet Properties > Click MAPPING > From the bottom left corner, remove the check mark from "Use Windows Ink".
AutoCad Miscalibrated
AutoCad can support the Intuos4 tablet as a Windows system pointing the device or as a Wintab compatible digitizer. By default, AutoCad is configured to use Intuos4 as a system pointing device.
Calibrating Intuos4 for AutoCad
If you are using Intuos4 to digitize a drawing, you will need to calibrate Intuos4 with the paper drawings coordinate system. The calibration allows you to digitize points from the paper drawings into the appropriate coordinate system of your drawing file.
