Sonos Roam 2 Unresponsive Buttons
When the buttons on the Sonos Roam 2 stop working properly, follow these steps to resolve the issue.
Debris Buildup
If the buttons are unresponsive, it's very possible that the buttons themselves are stuck due to the buildup of debris, such as dust or grime.
To troubleshoot this, first inspect the buttons for any visible debris. Then, check to see if the buttons feel physically stuck or mushy.
If they do, or if you see any visible debris, dampen a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol, making sure it's damp but not soaked or dripping, and then Wipe around the edges of each button. Dry off any excess with a cloth or dry cotton swab. Repeat as necessary until the buttons are visibly clean and the buttons don't feel stuck.
Low Battery Preventing Response
If the battery is low, the buttons may not respond even if the speaker seems to be on. The remedy for this is quite easy, and all you need to do is plug in your Sonos Roam 2 for 15-30 minutes to let it charge. Once this is done, try the buttons again.
Power Cycle Needed
Another likely cause for unresponsive buttons on the Sonos Roam 2, like other Bluetooth devices and wireless speakers, can become unresponsive due to a temporary firmware glitch.
In this case, all you'll you need to do to fix this is hold the power button for about 5 seconds until the speaker powers off. Wait a few seconds, and then power the speaker back on. Test the buttons to see if this resolved the issue.
Factory Reset Needed
Starting with the your Sonos Roam 2 speaker powered on, you will press and hold the power button for five seconds to power it off. If done correctly, there will be a chime and the status light will turn off.
Press and hold the Play/Pause button, while holding that you will then press and release the power button. You will continue to hold the Play/Pause button until the front light flashes orange and white, then you are ok to release it.
Once the light flashes green you'll then want to press and hold the Bluetooth button until the light flashes blue. It should then appear on your phone as a device ready to connect, click on it and the light should turn to a solid blue indicating a stable connection.
