Punkt MP02 Buttons Not Registering
The buttons on the keyboard/pad are malfunctioning, sticky, or unresponsive. Pressing certain buttons includes latency, or a second harder press is needed for the device to register your input.
Dust/Debris on Keys
Check the device's keypad for any possible obstruction or damage. Then, clean the buttons and crevices between them using something such as a Q-Tip with isopropyl alcohol. This will help clean the device of any dust and particles that have covered the keys. This is the most straightforward but most likely least helpful solution to your problem.
Laggy Software
Different applications can slow down or introduce delay to your key inputs. Check the keyboard across different applications. If the problem appears on only one, it could just be a sub-optimally designed application. Check to ensure you are running the latest software and have the latest updates installed. You can then perform a hard reset by holding down the power button for at least 30 seconds to try and refresh the device. If the issue persists and continues to be caused by a software-related problem, a factory rest can be performed by navigating to Settings > Reset > Factory Reset. Be cautious however, as this action deletes all data, including contacts, messages, and settings. Backup your data before resetting it, as it cannot be restored.
Damage to Inner Components
Damage to the inside of the device is much less likely than a software-related issue, but if it seems more related to actual key functionality, you can open the device. Something small could be caught on the key contacts, prohibiting proper input. By following a breakdown guide found on iFixit’s website, traverse to the point where you can access the key module and membrane. Check for any kind of debris or damage that might have been done to the contacts or keys themselves. Clean with a pad and isopropyl alcohol if material is found. You may wish to replace the key membrane, which is covered by one of our published replacement guides. If after reassembling the device, the issue persists, check to see if you still have a warranty under the manufacturer. Contact customer support with your issue to see if you qualify for a device repair or replacement.
