Monitor will not display images

The monitor has no image or does not appear on.

The camera is turned off

When the camera is powered off there will be no images on the display. Press the On/Off button on the top of the camera until the LED indicator turns on.

The battery is dead

If the battery does not have enough charge, the camera will not operate properly. Ensure that the battery is sufficiently charged, then turn the camera back on by pressing the On/Off button. If you need to replace your battery, check this guide for help.

The camera is in power-saving mode

This camera powers off automatically to save battery. Press the On/Off button to exit the power-saving mode.

A time-lapse movie is being recorded

The camera has started a time-lapse video. During a time-lapse recording, the camera may not display anything on the display. Allow the camera to complete the recording.

The camera is being operated by remote control

If the camera is connected to external displays or other devices, the display may not show any images. Disconnect from any remote controls, and disable Bluetooth.

The monitor is damaged

If the monitor has been damaged it will no longer display images properly. This guide will show you how to replace your damaged monitor.

Power Button is unresponsive

When the power button is pressed, the camera does not turn on/off.

Camera is slow to turn on

Sometimes the camera has a reboot system, or an overload of commands will cause the camera to take longer to turn on. Place the camera down for 1-2 minutes, then click the power button to start or shut off your device.

Battery is low or close to dead

An uncharged battery or dead battery are common reasons why a camera is unresponsive to turn on.  Promptly remove the existing battery and replace with a new battery, or insert the charger into the charger port for a full charge. To change your battery, use this guide.

Camera is unable to connect to wifi

The camera is unsuccessfully connecting to a smart device.

Airplane mode is on

When airplane mode is activated, all wireless connections are disabled. Navigate to the network menu section of the Camera and disable airplane mode.

Poor SnapBridge connection

A poor connection to other devices may be a setup issue. Turn the camera’s power on and open the SnapBridge app on your smart device. Enable Bluetooth on both devices, and follow the prompts on the app. Check to make sure the connection is Successful.

If the connection is Unsuccessful, restart the Snapbridge app and cancel the previous connection then reconnect the devices.

If the SnapBridge app on the smart device is connected to two or more cameras switch the connection on the app to the camera you want to link to.

Camera does not take pictures

When the button is pressed, the photo is not taken.

The Memory Card is full.

If the SD card has no more storage left, further photos can not be taken.  Eject the current SD card, and replace it with a new one.

The Battery has low power

Pictures are blurry or out of focus

The photo quality is poor or distorted.

The subject is too close

Being to close to the subject can have a negative impact on your photos. If you are taking photos very close to the subject, use the mode dial to select Close-up or macro mode.

The subject is hard to focus on

In certain environments, it may be difficult to focus on the subject. This camera can assist in finding a good focus for your picture. Navigate the setup menu to find the Auto Focus function, and set it to auto.

The camera lens is dirty or smudged

Having dirt or oil from skin contact on the lens of the camera will obstruct your photos. Make sure that the lens is clean by gently wiping it with a lens wipe or microfiber cloth.

There is not enough light

Brightening a picture can help improve the image quality. Extend the flash by moving the sliding lever on the top of the camera. More advanced users can also change the settings to increase the ISO sensitivity.

The camera is moving while the picture is being taken

Between us as users, and the environment, the camera might shake or vibrate causing the picture to be blurry. Using a tripod or similar device will reduce any shaking while taking pictures.

The lens of the camera has been damaged.

If the camera has been dropped or exposed to water, the lens may no longer function correctly. If you need to replace your lens, check the Lens Replacement Guide.

I am continuously getting message on camera screen to Turn off the camera and switch it on again.. This is a new camera and I am trying to open it for the first time. Camera is fully charged.

Having trouble with the lens curtain not being opened or closed, it's loose. The camera also gives an error saying "Turn camera off then on again." Nikon Coolpix A900.
