Device Will Not Power On
If the phone does not respond to attempts at powering on, see these possible underlying causes:
Device is Not Charged
First check to see that your phone has enough battery. If not, plug it into your charger and let it charge for awhile. If the device will not charge, there are several issues to investigate. See this guide for further instructions.
Faulty Power Button
If the device will charge, but the rear power button does not work, it may need to be fixed or replaced. See this guide for further instructions.
Faulty Charging Port
Charging ports can be a weak spot on many phones because they are one of the only exposed components. Check for any dirt or debris in the charging port and carefully clean it out with a toothpick or similar tool. If cleaning the port does not resolve the issue, it may need to be replaced. See this guide for further instructions.
Faulty Battery
If the charging cable is not the problem, you may have a faulty battery that needs replacing. See this battery replacement guide for further instructions.
Faulty Motherboard
If charging problems persist, the issue may be on the motherboard. See this guide for replacement instructions.
Device Does Not Charge
If the device battery percentage will not increase, see these possible underlying causes:
Consider Closing Some Apps
Sometimes running too many apps at once can affect the charging speed.
To close apps running in the background, press the square button at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Find apps that are no longer in use and press the ‘X’ button on each window to close it.
Check/Replace Charging Cables
Check the ends of your charging cable for damage as these areas see the most wear and tear. If the cable is damaged, use another cable. If available, try multiple cables.
Check for Dirt in Charging Port
If the cable is not causing the issue, the problem may be with the charging port. Charging ports can be a weak spot on many phones because they are one of the only exposed components.
Check for any dirt or debris in the charging port and carefully clean it out with a toothpick or similar tool. If cleaning the port does not resolve the issue, it may need to be replaced. See this guide for further instructions.
Replace the Battery
If charging problems persist, the issue may be in the battery. See this guide for replacement instructions.
Replace Motherboard
If charging problems persist, the issue may be on the motherboard. See this guide for replacement instructions.
Phone is Frozen or Unresponsive
If the phone does not respond to touch inputs and/or button inputs, see these possible underlying causes:
Touchscreen is Dirty and/or Wet
Clean the screen with a soft cloth or special wipe.
Power Down and Restart
Restarting the phone refreshes the memory and can clear up minor issues.
Soft Reset
If you are unable to restart the phone via the touchscreen or power button, you can perform a soft reset. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds, or until the device begins to restart.
Hard Reset
If the soft reset does not resolve the issue, you may perform a hard reset, or factory reset. Hold down the power button and volume down key at the same time. When the LG logo is displayed, release the power button momentarily and then hold it down again. Make sure to keep the volume down key pressed the whole time. This should bring up the factory reset menu and clear up any corrupted data issues.
Replace Digitizer and Screen
If your touchscreen is unresponsive, the digitizer may be broken and need replacing.
Phone Keeps Restarting
If the phone continuously restarts, showing the LG logo or if the phone displays green screen upon start and constantly powers on and off to this screen, see these possible underlying causes:
Incompatible Applications
There may be applications that are resisting the capability of restarting the phone.
Entering safe mode and deleting recent app installs.
With the screen on, press and hold the power key.
When an options menu appears, press and hold power off.
Message “Restart in Safe Mode” will appear, tap ok.
Device will restart in safe mode.
Navigate the menu to delete recently installed applications.
Hard Reset
(WARNING: THIS WILL ERASE ALL USER DATA ON DEVICE):
- Power off device.
- Hold down both the volume down button and the power button until “System Recovery” page appears.
- Release buttons.
- Navigate to “Factory Data Reset.” Use power key to confirm selection.
- Allow the device several minutes to reboot.
Device is Corrupted
If the error message “Device is Corrupted” is shown on device screen, see these possible underlying causes:
Check for Device Updates
Navigate to your device settings. Scroll down to find “system updates.” Tap this option and “select check for new system update.” Update your device if any updates are available.
Restart your device
Press and hold your power button and volume down button until the device restarts.
Hard Reset

Unlocked Bootloader (Advanced Users)
If you have performed software modifications to your device (custom ROM or rooting), you may have corrupted your device. It is recommended that you contact LG for steps to restore your software to its original state.
Fingerprint Scanner Unresponsive
If the fingerprint scanner will not unlock phone after being initiated, see these possible underlying causes:
Dirt and Oil Build-up
Dirt and oil may build up on the device and impede its ability to function properly.
Cleaning
Power off device.
Use the solution to dampen a microfiber cloth and gently clean the outside of the phone. A 30% / 70% solution of water to isopropyl alcohol is recommended but distilled or bottled water will work.
Check to see if this resolves the issue.
Rescanning fingerprints:
From the home screen select Settings>Lock Screen>Fingerprints>Manage Fingerprints.
Select the delete icon (trash can) to the right of the desired fingerprint and confirm.
Rescan your finger.
Deleting original fingerprint ID file in the phone:
Some users have experienced success resolving the issue by turning off the “Always On” display setting.
Overheating
If the phone displays a warning that the phone is too hot, see these possible underlying causes:
Direct Sunlight
Overexposure to direct sunlight.
Place the phone in an area of a lower temperature away from direct sunlight.
Open Phone Applications
Use of too many phone applications running in the background.
Kill as many running applications as possible.
Brightness
The brightness of the phone screen is raised too high.
Turn the brightness down to as low as possible.
Phone Case
The phone case is constricting the phone to cool properly.
Take off the phone case while the phone temperature is cooling down.
Vibrate Function not Working
If a notification or phone call from the phone will only play a ringtone or stay silent, see these possible underlying causes:
Vibrate Option is Deselected
The vibrate function is not selected in the phone settings.
Silent Mode
The phone is on silent. It will not ring or vibrate when receiving any notifications.
Re-select the Vibrate Option
Open the Settings application and select the ringtone options.
Select the vibrate option to "On".
Option to Turn off Silent Mode
Press the two volume buttons on the left side of the phone to change the volume settings and turn off silent mode.
Vibration Motor is Faulty
If the vibrate function is still not working, the motor may need to be replaced. Follow this vibration motor replacement guide for replacement instructions.

WIFI problem, it turns on and it wouldn't connect to my home wifi or any other wifi, and sometimes it connects to the wifi but there's no internet connection although there's internet on my other connected devices to the same wifi, also sometimes when I'm having the problem when I enter wifi settings the phone bugs and says wifi app doesn't respond; Smart doctor says that WIFI is good.
EDIT: I have G6 H870DS Indian model and I recently installed an update, but at the same time I downgraded it to android Nougat and still the problem persists.
