Note: This troubleshooting guide covers all LGVX3200 cell phones. Any other cell phones developed by LG will be covered in a separate troubleshooting guide.
LGVX3200 Won't Turn On
Your phone will not start up.
Dead Battery
If your battery is dead the phone will not turn on. To fix this problem, try plugging the phone or the battery into a charger or adapter. An image will appear on the screen of the phone and a light will appear on the phone to indicate whether it is charging. Your phone will be able to turn on if the battery is plugged into the charger. IF the charger is not working, look at the troubleshooting guide for "Phone Won't Charge".
Unseated or Loosely Seated Battery
If your battery is unseated or loosely seated the phone will not be able to turn on since the battery is not fully mounted. Reseat the battery, take out the battery and correctly place it back in it's seat, and try to turn on the phone.
Broken Circuit Board
A broken circuit board could be caused by overheating or short circuiting due to water or shock exposure. If the phone doesn't turn on and the battery has life and is seated correctly, then a broken circuit board could be the problem. The only option that could fix this problem is to replace the circuit board.
You Cannot Hear What Others Are Saying Over the Phone
"Hard to understand other person over the phone."
Low Signal Strength
You may have a low signal due to interference. Find an area with a stronger signal before making a call.
Background Noise
Either end of the phone may have loud background noises. If this is the case, find a quiet area before making a call.
Damaged Speaker
If the previous instructions do not work to fix the speaker, then it may be damaged. Follow the appropriate repair guide to find a solution.
Others Cannot Hear What You Are Saying Over the Phone
"People can't understand you over the phone."
Low Signal Strength
If the listener cannot hear what you are saying on the phone, you may have low signal due to interference. Find an area with a stronger signal before making a call.
Background Noise
Either end of the phone may have loud background noises. If this is the case, find a quiet area before making a call.
Damaged Microphone
If previous instructions do not work, the microphone in the phone may be broken. Follow the appropriate repair guide to find a solution.
Keypad Is Unresponsive
"The keypad doesn't respond."
Dead Battery
The keypad will be unresponsive if the phone’s battery is dead. To recharge the battery and activate the keypad, simply plug the phone charger into the phone, and plug the other end into the wall. Once the phone is plugged in, turn the phone on by pressing the power button. The keypad buttons should now be responsive.
Water Damage
If the phone has been exposed to water or extremely moist environments (ie. In the pocket of a wet jacket), then there may be moisture under the keypad. If you think this is the case, open the phone and take off the backing and battery. Leave the phone in the sun or next to a fan (or both) for at least a day. Put the phone back together once the moisture has dried out .
Phone Turns Off Randomly
"The phone randomly turns off."
Battery Is Damaged
Even if the phone indicates the battery is full, the battery could still be damaged. Try inserting another battery if you have an extra available. If not, you may need a replacement battery.
Screen Won't Turn On
"The screen does not appear active."
Phone Off
The phone may be not on. Check to see if the phone is turned on and functional. Also see the "Phone will not start up" section above.
Loose Cable
The cable connecting the screen to the battery and circuit boards may be loose or damaged, causing no data or power to reach the screen. Fixing may require opening the phone and replacing the connector. Look at appropriate repair guide for instructions.
Damaged Screen
The screen itself may be damaged or inoperable which could be from physical damage, water damage, or other external factors. This fix would require replacing the screen.
Phone Won't Charge
"The phone will not charge at all."
Damaged Battery
Many batteries wear out over time, which could cause the battery not to hold any more charge. Buying another battery is the only option.
Loose Battery
If the battery isn't well set into the back of the phone, it may not get a strong electrical connection and could fail to receive charge. Be sure that it is in correctly, flush against the back of the phone. For instructions refer to appropriate guide.
Defective Charging Cable
If there is any problem with the charger you are using for the phone, it will not be able to charge the battery. Ensure no cables are frayed, and that there is a strong connection. For proper instructions refer to appropriate guide.
Defective Charging Port
If there is no problem with the phone charger, the port where the cable attaches to the phone could be broken. Either pins on the connector itself could be bent, or the internal connection may be broken. To fix this problem, replace the pins or connector. In some cases the pins could be bent back into place.
