HP Officejet J4550 All-in-one Troubleshooting
This troubleshooting page will help you diagnose problems with the HP Officejet J4550 All-in-one series.
Scan Failed
Scanning process seemed successfully completed. However, the scanned document is blank or distorted
Damaged Glass Plate
The scanned file seems blurred. The glass plate could be damaged so that the light cannot perfectly pass through the glass to capture and support image. Replacing the glass plate could fix the problem. Check our guide for replacing the glass.
Device Drive Outdated
If the scanned file does not appear on your desktop, and installed drive does not work. It might be fixed by updating the device driver to the latest version. Check this link for update.
Printing Failed
Printing process gets stuck or paper is unable to eject.
Paper Jam
The paper might be jammed in the paper feed rollers so that printing process is stuck. When this occurs, the printer will not function properly until the paper has been manually removed. Make sure the paper is entering unevenly. If the printer is still stuck, open the front panel to clean the stuck paper parts.
No Paper
Files cannot be printed due to no paper in the printing tray. Checking whether there is enough paper in the printing tray can fix the problem.
Paper-Feed Roller Malfunction
If the manual paper-feed roller malfunctions, the printer's manual functions (fax, copy) will not work. Replacing the paper-feed roller could fix the problem. Check our guide for the replacement.
Poor Printing Quality
The printed file contains vertical stripes, and different from expectation.
Out of Ink
Ink is used up. Replacing the ink cartridge could fix the problem. Check our guide for the replacement.
Print head is dirty
Check the ink to see whether it is empty. If it is not empty, then the print head has to be cleaned. Go to the menu on the printer and select clean print head would fix the problem.
Not Turning On
The power button of the printer is not working or hard to press.
Not Plugged In
The power button is not working because the printer is not charging. Plug the power cord into the printer and the other end into the power source; try to press the power button again.
Power Cord Damaged
If plugging the power cord still won't fix the problem, then the power cord is likely to be damaged. Getting a new charger on this link would fix the problem.
Power Button Damaged
Power button is not working because it is damaged. If you get no response by pressing the power button, try to get a new one and replace the old power button. Check our guide for the replacement.

showspapper jam but am unable to find anything

shows out of paper, but there is paper and see no jam. paper will not feed.
