Computer Will Not Connect to the Internet
The laptop is not able to access the internet or use any internet applications
Device is in airplane mode
You can check to see if this is the case by accessing the settings for your device and looking for a little airplane icon. If the icon is highlighted then airplane mode is engaged. Simply click on the icon to disable airplane mode.
Not connected to router
If you are connected to the internet by an ethernet cable, make sure that it is properly inserted into your laptop. If you are connected to the internet by a wireless connection, you can either restart your device or check to make sure you put in the correct password.
Laptop needs a hard reset
Locate your power button and hold it down until your laptop has completely shut down. Wait a few seconds then turn your laptop back on using the same button. Wait for it to power back up then attempt to connect to the internet again.
Computer Will Not Respond or Performs Slowly
Your computer responds to inputs slowly or not at all.
Unused applications running
In your windows tab type “Support Assist” then open and download the Support assist app. In the top right corner press “Run All.” This will cause the systems to run all diagnostics and clear your systems. Finish this process by completing the on screen instructions shown. If a request to restart your system is shown, press it to restart the computer.
Faulty Hardware
Faulty hardware within your laptop may be causing it to slow or not respond. It is recommended to run a hardware diagnostics test to determine if one or more pieces of hardware in your laptop is underperforming.
Computer Will Not Start
The laptop will not start or show any signs of powering up.
Battery is Dead
If your battery is dead you should connect it to your closest plug in device using your mobile charger.
Computer Requires a POST (power-on-self-test)
If your computer is performing a POST test, the computer is going through a series of hardware checks. If this is in progress you should wait 5 minutes and then perform a hard reset. This is done by pressing the power button for up to 15- 20 seconds and waiting for the sign in screen to appear again.
Touch Screen Will Not Respond
Touch screen does not work or responds inaccurately.
Touch Screen is Not Enabled
The touch screen feature might be disabled or needs to be reinstalled. To do so you have to open the Run dialog box and type devmgmt.msc and click OK. Open Device Manager and expand Human Interface Devices. Enable HID-compliant touch screen, and if the touch screen still does not work uninstall it while also making sure it's uninstalled in the Uninstall Device window. Restart your laptop before using it again.
Screen is Not Clean
Your touch screen can accumulate dust and dirt particles. To start cleaning the screen you must turn off your laptop and disconnect the AC adapter. Use an anti-static brush to brush gently before using a damp microfiber cloth to clean. Let the screen dry before plugging in the AC adapter and turning the laptop back on.
Laptop is Outdated
Your laptop being outdated can affect the execution of the touch screen. You can go to your Settings panel on your laptop and check for any Windows Updates. If an update is needed, make sure to restart your laptop after the update is downloaded and installed.
Battery Will Not Charge
Battery is not charging or does not hold any charge.
Faulty AC Power Adapter
If the charge light does not turn on when plugged into your laptop, ensure your AC power adapter is not damaged. If wires are exposed, cables are cut, or pins are bent or broken inside the plug, consider purchasing a replacement adapter.
Faulty Battery

Incorrect AC Power Adapter
If the charge light does not turn on when plugged into your laptop and the AC power adapter is not damaged, you could be using the incorrect AC power adapter for the Dell Vostro 5510. If your AC power adapter is incompatible or from a third-party, consider purchasing the correct replacement adapter from Dell.
