Hello Gary, There could be two main problems with your phone due to the water damage. The first is that your LCD screen could have been damaged, in which case you can follow the repair guide for your iPhone here. Since you state that using a flashlight allows you to see the screen, I think replacing the screen would be sufficient. The other possibility is that the logic board within your iPhone is damaged. In this case, you can follow this guide to replace the logic board. I am not sure how quickly you could find a spare logic board for your phone, but it may be easier (and possibly less expensive) to purchase a newer iPhone such as the 5 or 5s.

To ensure there is no damage caused to the motherboard, remove that before any further action. Once that is done, lift up the charging port to remove the left speaker (looking at the tablet from the back). In order to remove the right-side speaker, remove the volume rocker, carefully lift up the surrounding metal back off the device, lift the silver tape from the charging port to remove the second screw, and then remove the charging port. Sometimes the touchscreen has a slight amount of lag due to an overload on the system, much like people who need sleep after a long day. Before just replacing the screen, try doing a hard restart by holding down the power button for 10 - 20 seconds or until an HP logo pops up. If that still does nothing, then part of your touchscreen may be defective; however, replacing a certain part of the screen is extremely difficult to do, so I suggest buying a new screen assembly and using the HP Slate 7 screen replacement guide to help you along. Another option is to contact HP support, inform them of your problem, and they will tell you what needs to be done from there.

Unfortunately, replacing the digitizer alone is next to impossible without damaging the actual LCD screen, so the whole screen is what needs to be replaced.

My apologies for the incorrect sizing of the Torx driver; please use a T3 sized driver, as it is the next size down from the T4.

Since HP does not supply the replacement ribbon, or many other parts for that matter, it is easiest to search on eBay and/or Craigslist for the parts needed. I found that the UK version of Amazon and eBay offer the best availability for such parts.
