No it will probably not work because the software is basically a reporting device that the hardware needs to tell you if there is a password on the computer. Basically what I am saying is that Mac builds there software in a way that when it boots up it checks the hardware to see if there is a password on the hardware. no matter which OS x you put on there if it's the stock one from Apple without any modifications it will check the onboard chips and report back to you that there is a password or pin lock on it. I can tell you that I have tinkered with the software many years ago and I was also able to load Windows on to the Mac natively because Windows obviously does not check EFI password and security so you would have to preload Windows and try it for fun. As of now the only real way to do it is via hardware method if Apple will not do it that's the way I do it now I just interface with a programmer on to the motherboard pin connectors and erase the area of Memory that contains the password and the icloud...
Leer másStill the same method of unlocking it is to rewrite the chip using an eeprom programmer and for those that bought their products off of eBay and had problems and issues I had been told by a person that I worked on their machine that I could not do it was a 2018 the 2019 with the new t2 chip that if you just get a police report and send it to eBay they will refund your money for the purchase And for the record anything before 2018 can be done it's only 2018-2019 and 2020 that are very difficult but not impossible
Leer másdid you make sure fan is spinning and machine is not overheating? otherwise could be power management chip wich is board level repair
Leer másapple not gonna help unless you have proof of purchase and then even so they will try to get you to trade it in to buy a new one and give you pennies in return. as far as fixing it yourself I don't recommend unless you really have knowledge of electrical engineering and experience with removing and soldering ic chips. the easiest thing to do for a basic DIY do it yourself with some skill is to just swap out the motherboard with a clean unlocked one might cost you a few hundred but thats way better than ending up with a expensive doorstop i would estimate 300-400 tops with good local guy. don't even bother with apple all their boards seem to be 900-1000 when you ask them. Just another ploy to get you to buy a new one.
Leer másI will not post any sensitive information on the subject but I can tell you it is linked to an Apple iCloud account. iPads do not have EFI chips like computers but the idea is similar they have different architecture so what do you are seeing is a BIOS password so to say for an iPad. the year of the iPad and whether it is possible to do but usually not worth it . I did one a couple of years ago just to see if it was possible but it is not worth the trouble. ( I was able to do it)
Leer másthis was efi chip that was used from 2010-2013 on almost all models macbook pro 13 15 and 17 also the imac and mac mini. they have 8 legs very common and easy to reprogram with right tools.
Leer másif you have proof of purchase and are still under warranty go to apple . if not your going to have to pay a third party to remove it by reprogramming the EFI chip (AKA bios chip) be careful as this can brick your machine if not professionally done I have had many technicians even 20 year plus veterans come to me after they fried the motherboard. At that point you might as well buy a new machine. For more info look for programming efi bios chips. It sounds simple but its more of a electrical engineering thing than a I.T. thing. mxic6406e was the chip they first used to hold the bios info. as of last 2 years there is a couple of different chips depending on model and year that I don't know off top of my head but I do have plenty of pictures somewhere as I always would document a new machine after my work is done. HOpe this gives you insight and don't brick it!!! Try apple or third party or sell it (Not to me I have plenty) if you don't want to invest more.
Leer másI am a hardware engineer and former employee of a large computer company with that said i can give you a basic understanding that you can hack or reverse any efi password with the proper tools. all you have to do is reprogram the bios chip with a clean firmware that does not have a password on it. for this you will need a couple of things. first you have to identify the bios chip (microcontroller), then you have to get a .bin file that does not have a password on it and it has to be for your specific machine 2011will not work on 2014 and so on.(that maybe hard to get since manufacturers own this info and do not give it out. thirdly you need the proper tools to do it. eprom programmer once the chip is removed from the board. this is just a basic description. I have seen it done and here is someone that can answer more in depth questions ok so here is a picture of the bios chip on the bottom right. It is the chip with 8 legs. it is the MXIC6406e CHIP and it is used in many computers not only macbooks but hp...
Leer másyou have to change the bios chip or erase it and get it reprogrammed the only guys I know that have done it correctly are in new jersey . jerseycityrepair.com
