Did you replace the screen with a genuine Samsung part? Aftermarket screens for Samsung are usually cheap garbage that either works badly or not at all. I know from experience. Genuine might be more expensive but worth it in the long run.
If it was cheap, and by the sounds of what happened it probably is, I'd bin it pal and buy a new one. Maybe better quality. You get what you pay for as they say. You could always try and solder the older one as a bit of practice.
