I created a page for your model of chair and added the user manual to it. Invacare 9000 Series Wheelchair Your chair might have spacers on the axle, so you probably need to make sure those are present. (user manual page 55) It looks like there isn't much adjustability offered in the sleeve, or at least there is not instructions in the user manual. You want to make sure it is identical on each side. You also should make sure the parts have not loosened, which could make one wheel unsteady. And make sure the quick release axle is fully inserted when the wheel is attached, so that it can not shift out. There are other wheelchairs with manuals that explain tightening the axle area in more detail, but they might not fully apply to your chair. Here is a quote from Quickie on page 19 that describes how to make sure the axle pins are tight enough. The manual also has drawings describing the parts more clearly. I have not done this myself, but I found some users of the Whill C2 on reddit, who have various squeaking problems too. It might not be the same squeak as yours, since they say the squeak is in teh quick release mechanism. In this thread (https://old.reddit.com/r/wheelchairs/com...) user BS-75_actual says the quick release mechanism needs lubricating. They also say that if your controller assembly has any loose screws, it will cause a rattle. And they found another squeak from the lever accidentally getting released when the user leaned over. And yet another squeak was caused by a nylon washer on teh spindle getting worn out, so if it might need replacing. On this thread (https://old.reddit.com/r/wheelchairs/com...) the user says a tech walked them through several steps to find squeaks "First thing I did was on my own. I folded a small piece of some fine grit sandpaper in half so that there was grit on both sides. I put it between the fender and shroud (drive unit) underneath the suspension spring and...
If you can’t get a doctor to prescribe an assistive device (ever heard a doc say they ), you should do research into what types of chairs will fit your needs. I’m guessing an ultralight would be most useful to you. get accurate measurements with help from a friend. I did mine myself, but if you don’t have experience doing self measurement, like for sewing clothes, you might enjoy having a spotter. Save searches on ebay for models and sizes that fit your needs, check second hand stores, charities. check out wheelchair user forums, like on reddit or carecure [dot] net/forum/sci-community-forums/equipment maybe check in on twitter’s disability community, people like crutches ‘n spice, !&&* on wheels. Best of luck. It can be so hard to get help from the medical system.
