That sounds really weird. I don’t remember any insulation on this specific model of controller. I don’t have this anymore as it was a repair for a friend and I also hadn’t noticed or measured such a drain.
I’m curious to see if the lower end model uses the same logic board but with a different M1 SoC and one less usb-c board and whether it still has the second connector for the other 2 usb-c ports
I am sorry for your experience but a PH0 screwdriver worked just fine for me. If it doesn’t quite work for you, try the rubber band trick: place a thin and wide rubber band on the screw and squish it with the screwdriver. Also, it’s not useless, I have bought so many things calling them that and wouldn’t you know it one day I was so grateful that I had these lying around. Happy repairing Tar!
Thanks for pointing it out. I do not have this controller anymore as it was from a repair job so unfortunately, I cannot correct it. If you or someone else happens to have one and is able to take high-quality pictures I’d be more than grateful to accept your correction.
m.2 drives are not compatible. Only mini PCie
You can’t use Samsung it’s not compatible. Samsung is m.2 and OWC is mini PCie
Apple doesn’t sell standalone SSD’s but you can’t youse a normal one from Samsung because Samsung doesn’t make mini PCIe drives for retail. To my knowledge, and that’s what I used the only solution is the OWC Aura Pro X2 SSD upgrade kit. comes in 240, 480, 1TB and 2TB’s of storage. ( I recommend you to buy the upgrade kit and not the SSD only because then you can repurpose your old SSD as an external drive.) Unfortunately, I can’t provide you a link.
Can an Admin remove the “patrol” note? I accidentally deleted all the steps in the new snapshot whilst trying to edit it.
Probably not. They’re completely different. You should also ask that at the 2017 guide as well
You are totally right. I thought it was too obvious but it’s better careful than sorry. Added it as a point.
