I’m not sure how the “refurbisher” who sold me my machine pulled it off, but on from a sale on Amazon.com I bought a machine from one of these refurbishers, with an activated install of windows-10 (pro) 64 bit. Its taken me a while to understand activation, as my last machine was windows XP. But when I checked my machine for its activation KEY in my settings, all it said was “windows is activated using your organizations activation service”. I then learned from a microsoft rep that I could use the SLMGR command (from a CMD prompt) to see more details of my activation. From that I’m beginning to think I have a hacked windows version. Typing SLMGR/ xpr is supposed to tell me whether my OS is permanently activated. Mine doesn’t, but instead says the volume will expire in August 20202, which is 6 months from now as I write this). And way I can check the vendor to see if he is legitimately in the refurbish program?
