How to replace the battery in your iPhone 5s

30 minuto - 1 hora

Moderate

Mi Problema

The battery went dead very fast.

Mi Solución

Removing the battery was incredibly difficult. I installed the new battery but had to put phone back together 5 times before I could get the screen to work. I had no problem with parts I got from iFixit.

Mi Consejo

When removing the battery try not to fold the battery at all. If the battery folds it can cause a short and explode in your phone this is what happens when trying to remove it. Try to make sure your battery is dead all the way before you change it.

The 5S battery is a real pain to remove. at th ebottom of the battery is a black plastic tab that you can pull on to remove the adhesive holding the battery in place, but 9/10 time it rips off without removing the adhesive.

The only way I have found to get the battery out without it bending too much, is to use a heat gun and heat up (not too much!!) the back of the phone where the battery is sitting. Then use a thin flat spudger or similar to get under the battery. Normally the battery casing rips as the glue holding it in place is overkill on Apple's part.

When you first remove the dock connector, you can really easy pull the black plastic tape without breaking it.
