Replacing WiFi Adapter in Lenovo Notebook Computer

Mi Problema

The original LAN module for single-band. I wanted a dual-band adapter.

Mi Solución

Support Technician Joe Smith suggested what turned out to be the perfect set of driver bits for disassembly and reassembly of the notebook, so that part was a breeze. Unfortunately, the BIOS whitelist rejected the transplant and wouldn't allow the new module to work. So I've ordered a slightly different model to try.

Mi Consejo

I wish I'd known about BIOS whitelists before ordering the WLAN card. I suggest considerable online research before attempting hardware replacement in a notebook. Also: Be slow, careful, and VERY patient when replacing this kind of card. The antenna connectors are tiny and quite difficult to align properly. Plan on multiple breaks during multiple tries to get them seated successfully.
