Dark flickering spot on left side.

Hello, I have a Samsung TV that has a dark spot on the left side that flickers. Could it be a backlight issue or an issue with the LCD?

Here is a short clip of the issues.

@legacytech looking at that clip and notching the well defined top and bottom border of the area on question, this looks like a Panel issue (gate driver). With a backlight issue, the borders would not this well defined. Furthermore, your TV uses Edge backlighting, meaning it gets the backlight from the top and the bottom. If one (or even two) of those LEDs would have failed your picture would have been dark from either the top down or bottom up, but not somewhere in the middle.

I would start off by removing thew back cover and checking all of the ribbon cables. Remove those, check for corrosion, tears and any other damage. Next check the driver boards (long skinny boards) that connect directly to the LCD. Check for any area or component that looks damaged etc.

You can always post some images of anything that appears odd with your Question. That way we can see what you see.

Thank you for your quick response. I will take a look tomorrow and take pictures if possible. I did replace two 51ohm resistors with two 100ohm ones and removed two diodes. Do you think that would cause an issue?

@legacytech absolutely possible. Why did you need to replace those and why did you go with a higher resistance?

So I got the TV from my employers electronics recycling bin. Took it home to test to see what was wrong. The screen looked like this.

https://file.garden/Z6FfzRMdcEKIRuWN/KED... not my image but the issue looked similar. So I looked online to see if it could be fixed and came across a YouTube video where they replaced the 51ohm with the 100ohm instead so i just went with it. I have a bunch of resistor reels that I got in a lot so I'll look to see if I have any 51ohm. "Edit The two that I replaced showed damage."

I ended up fixing the issue. I over looked the driver boards and missed the two bad resistors on the opposite side (left side, right side if your looking at it from the back) I replaced those two resistors and the two that I replaced previously with 51.1ohm resistors (closest I had to 51ohm)

Thank you for taking the time to help me and having me double check everything. My first TV repair. I normally do video game systems.

@legacytech that's awesome. Great job and I am glad you could fix your TV. It's of paramount important that we keep our devices for as long as possible and keep eWaste out of our landfill.
