@jahaankach66234 you will have to treat it like you treat any other water immersed device.

For now, stop continuing to try to charge, sync or otherwise use your phone. This potentially can make a bad situation worse.This may further damage your phone.

The next thing to do is to clean it. Since ifixit does no yet have any guides for this, use something like this video to disassemble your phone.

You must remove all EMI shields of the boards.. If you do not remove those, you might as well not do anything. After you removed those, clean the whole board, connectors and all with +90% isopropyl alcohol. Follow this guide Even so it was written for an Apple iPhone 3G, all the points are still pertinent to your phone. I can not stress the importance of a good cleaning enough, so do it over and over while replacing the alcohol after each cleaning.

Best thing to do would be to clean it with an ultrasonic cleaner, but if you do not have access to one, this will at least help.You can do the same for the charging board but personally,I like to replace those. They are generally inexpensive and by replacing it, I know I have a good board. That way further troubleshooting, if necessary, becomes easier.

While you clean your board, check for any obvious damage, like burned or missing components etc. When it is properly cleaned, replace the battery. All these steps are to avoid delayed failure caused by corrosion. Once all this is done, reassemble your phone and reevaluate. Until it is cleaned, everything will only be a guess. Even with all this, water damage has only a small chance to be fully repaired, but at least you can give it a try.

Can you please explain why replacing the battery is necessary.

@oidicle

Water conducts electricity. A battery supplies electricity.

When a battery is immersed in water it will discharge completely within a short period of time. This may damage the battery internally.

The best thing to do is to replace the battery and dispose of the old one responsibly.

Trying to charge a possibly damaged battery (you don't know whether it is or not) after completing the other necessary repairs to the phone may cause more damage so why take the risk.

I now understand that I'm in big trouble.

I had my submerged Redmi Note 12 looked at, at a repair shop. They cleaned it up but didn't replace the battery. Phone turned on but was stuck in a bootloop (at the logo); they said that I had to have new firmware flashed to it.

I got home, managed to boot into recovery mode, I wanted to try to copy my data, but then I saw an option for "safe mode" in the recovery menu. I selected it hoping it would boot. I was ecstatic when I saw the bootanimation and it did boot to the lockscreen. I was about to draw my pattern when suddenly the phone shut off not turning back on.

I took it back to that repair shop, they looked at it but couldn't get it to turn on again.

What I did notice though is that before it shutdown I saw that the battery logo was red not looking like it normally did when charging. That's what made me think of the battery as the culprit after reading the first explanation on this thread, that the battery had to be replaced.

What a dodgy repair shop!😩😤
