LG top loader tub fills and gets stuck

10 year old WT5270CW LG top loader threw an IE error, no water in tub, with Add Garments lit up. I selected Rinse and Spin and hit Go. Tub filled - like full - which it never does (but didn’t over fill). Stayed in rinse cycle with time remaining decreasing. Never went to Spin. Hubs turned it off/unplugged and checked the drain hose - all clear. Plugged back in and did Spin, tub drained. Tried a new wash cycle - started, tub filled again. Never got past that. Paused the cycle and it manually drained as designed. Any ideas?
