Hi, I found this MacBook on a marketplace for about 80 USD in Czech Republic. I believe it’s the MacBook Pro 2018, 15-inch model. The screen appears to be cracked, as seen in the pictures, but there are signs of life as the screen is somewhat on and the Esc key is visible. What are your thoughts?

Yes, it should work fine without a display. You can use the Reemplazo de la pantalla de MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar 2018 guide to know how to remove it.

Hi @duck, thank you for your answer. I'm not familiar with the specs, but do you think it's worth $80? Also, if the seller doesn't know the Apple ID, can Intel Macs be factory reset without it? I've come across a lot of conflicting information.
@kicmer If the owner doesn’t know the Apple ID then it will be locked to that ID and you cannot reset it. With the Apple ID lock it isn’t worth any more than the raw parts value. If it wasn’t locked then it would be a great deal but due to the Apple ID lock I wouldn’t touch it because it is practically worthless.
@duck do you know some good iCloud check site. I know the SN but couldn’t find any site that would tell me the iCloud status. I am going to message the seller today. I hope he knows the Apple ID.
@kicmer In my experience most of them don’t work with Macs for some reason. I’m sure they exist but I personally couldn’t find any.

@kicmer - While you can run the system without a display, SMC logic will reduce the CPUs clocking as the thermal sensors within the display will have been severed. It’s best to leave the display mounted and just an external display in Clamshell Mode.

Hi, @danj. Thank you. That’s new information. Is it a big difference. I wanted to use the trackpad and keyboard on the Mac. And I don’t want the “useless” display in the way.

Got it for 20 Bucks and there wasn’t an activation lock. And as a headless Mac it’s working fine. The specs are i9, 32gb ram and 512gb storage. @duck
