Fossil Carlyle Gen 5 battery replacement

Hello,

the watch battery lasts about 5 hours and I want to change it.

Question no. 1: can I use an aftermarket battery with a capacity of 530 mah or can I look for the original 310 mah battery?

Question no. 2: Are they compatible with my watch model? "YKaiserin Battery APP00296 530mAh for fossil Gen 5 Gen5/for Julianna HR FTW6035 Battery" or "Battery for Apack APP00296 for fossil Gen 5/Fossil Julianna HR FTW6035 310mAh 3.8V + tools" I don't know if I'm allowed to leave a link from AliExpress and I left only the name.

I'm open to suggestions if you have better solutions.

Thanks for the help :D

This Fossil Garret gen 5 watch is the biggest piece of garbage in the smart watch market. I love the look and feel of the watch. The battery lasts about 3 hours then dies. That's when the real headache begins. The charging cable/watch stopped working about 1 month after buying it. I bought a couple of aftermarket charging cables but the watch won't charge. This is a well know issue with this watch (Google charging issue with Fossil Garrett gen 5 watch).

Do not waste your time and money on this piece of garbage unless you want to frustrate yourself. If you are dead set on buying this junk, you can buy mine for $1.00 or have someone kick you in the nuts and save the $1.00 and you will be happier than most Fossil watch owners.

Hi @ghineaadrian

To ensure that you're getting a battery that will physically fit inside the watch, perhaps it may be better to open the watch and check for the specifications or model number of the original battery.

If there's no model or type number then sometimes there may be a 6 digit "dimensions" number along with the voltage (V) and current (mAH) ratings printed on the battery.

You can also check if there are only 2 wires connected to the battery or more as some have a temperature sensor lead as well.

If there is a 6 digit dimensions number then the convention is that the 1st two digits are the height (or depth) of the battery in millimetres (mm) with a decimal point between the two digits, that is not shown, the 2nd two digits are the width of the battery in mm and the last two digits are the length of the battery in mm.

As an example only to show what I mean and I don't know if this could be for your watch or not, this battery has the following dimensions specifications on it - 313734

313734 = 3.1mm H x 37mm W x 34mm L,

If there is a 6 digit number on the original battery you could try searching for (insert 6 digit number shown on original battery), (insert voltage shown on battery i.e. 3.7V or 3.8V) LiPo battery and try to find one that has the same dimensions and voltage rating but with a greater mAH rating than the original.

Here's a video that might help with regards to opening the watch.

Hi @barakschneidman I haven't changed the battery yet. I solved the problem with an OS update from the play store and now the battery lasts 24 hours. Maybe this information will help you.
