Hi Clyde,

I can't quite make out the problem with the connector you're indicating; what exactly is the matter with it? Did you knock the lever off of it or is there something wrong with the cable that plugs into that connector?

@clydechen It would help to see what the connector on your computer looks like rather than just knowing which on is the issue.

Those connectors can be repaired, but to make recommendations we'll need to see the extent of the damage.

If you can, add a picture of the Mac you're working on into your original post.

Based on what I see here, this looks pretty much like what I expected. The little locking tab popped out. Happens all the time. At least it looks like you found it. Usually, mine fly off into the black hole that is my repair bench, and I may find it six months later.

I don't see any damage in your pictures, but it can be difficult to tell at that scale. Either way, I would have a look at this handy tutorial to replace the flap. It's for a different, wider ZIF connector, but the principle is the same. You might need some magnification and fine point tweezers. And be sure to do this without the battery screw connected, the big chunky T5 one right by this connector, or do it with the board out of the housing.

could you clarify your last sentence? "would" typo, with, without?

T5, the one to the left of the connector, big circular one?

can't believe i done it, thanks!!!

@clydechen Sorry for the delay, but sounds like you got it! (Hurrah)

Mostly I just wanted to make sure the battery was totally disconnected since tweezers are usually electrically conductive. And didn’t want to create new damage that’s much harder to fix.

It appears the latch is missing, that can be replaced. It that the second picture?

I don’t see any other damage. Can you clarify things a bit here.

ok, i guess that's good.

what else are you not clear with? I think what happened is, I might have thought I opened the latch or it was stuck, so, when I pulled the cable, that little piece popped out. parts are really small and happened fast, I don't know exactly what happened.

I went on and replaced the battery, put the pieces back, plug in, hoping it would still connect, but no.

that's why I am here asking if this can be repaired, and if its even worth trying to repair because how much it would cost to repair it?

@clydechen - If you have the latch it just snaps in by slightly curving it. One it’s in it will compress the contacts to the cable.

- de

is that loose piece the latch? I don't know what it looks like originally, or if it is damage?

- de

@clydechen - At a distance I think so. The image is not tight enough to tell if it’s damaged or not.

Thanks, it worked!!
