New MP3 player I just bought does not hold a charge or work

I just bought this Delstar D214 music player for a costume from eBay, but it doesn’t hold a charge at all. It works when it’s plugged in and it can play/download music and do everything normally, but the second I unplug it, the screen turns black. Is there anything I can do to make this work? Thank you

Hi @jasonhiga

Seems as though the battery in the player is faulty or there's a loose internal connection somewhere.

Since it is new, contact the seller through Ebay, about the problem and ask for a replacement or a refund.

If they don't answer or refuse, then escalate the problem to Ebay to get your money back. It's always better to try the seller first as then Ebay can see that you tried to get it resolved with the seller to no avail.

You may be able to fix it by replacing the battery by opening it up (there's a small screw in the cap at one end) to find the battery model number printed on the battery or check if there's any faulty connections etc, but I suggest that you initially don't do this as it will void any guarantee/warranty claim.

Chances are the seller will either send a replacement without asking for a return of the faulty unit or you'll get a refund (one way or the other) and so still get to keep the faulty unit which you can then try to repair.

Thank you so much for your response! Unfortunately, I don't want to risk sending this back since this item is kinda rare, and I've waited a while in order to purchase this model of mp3 player. I'll check some repair shops around me to see if they can find the issue. I'll also open it up and see what I can do.

Still doesn't hurt to contact the seller. If they offer a replacement and want the faulty unit returned you don't have to do it. Call it "feedback" just to let them know that there is a problem ;-)

If they don't respond at all, still contact Ebay as most likely they will give you a refund. A win-win for you.

Don't be surprised if the replacement battery costs more than what you paid for the player
