Not Charging When in Outer Case

The pcb on the toothbrush was shorting & had blown the F1 fuse. Obtained a replacement board from China, removed old & replaced with new. When the brush without the outer casing is placed on the charger, it charges with green light flashing. Brush also works as it should & can be reset. So I thought great, fixed! But, when I place inside the outer case & place on charger, it no longer charges, green light does not flash. Brush will switch on but just does not charge. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening? Many thanks David

Update (09/01/23)

So the outer case is a hollow shell with an end piece. There is no electrical contact, presumably a current is induced in the coil to recharge the battery. As you can see from the attached video all is ok when the case is on. Thanks for taking an interest.

Hi @davidcan11845

Don't know the model but was wondering if the contact showing on the bottom of the case, is making a solid connection with the connector in the charger when the outer case is on?

Hi @davidlawri1954,

Can you post an image showing the bottom of the outer case where is fits into the charger?

Hi Jayeff - couple more images posted.

@davidlawri1954

Is the bottom of the toothbrush outer case one piece or is there an opening of some sort?

Looking at the image seen in Step.2 of the ifixit Reemplazo de la carcasa Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean guide, it appears as though part of the charging coil at the bottom of the brush as seen in images 3 & 4 you posted can be seen, but maybe I'm wrong about this.

Seems as though the toothbrush is being charged by wireless (Qi) charging and not by direct electrical contact which is understandable given the toothbrush may be wet after use and then may be placed in the charger

What happens if you leave the bottom cap off the case, does it charge then.

Seems like the case it catching something preventing it from charging.

Does it charge with the case removed if you operate the on/off button?

Just trying to simulate what may be happening with or without the case covering the internals components.
