The timer does not shut down the dryer automatically. You can turn it off by turning it manually clockwise.

No, it does not stop when you open the door. The timer does not count down to the stop point. When you turn it clockwise to the stop point everything works fine. It’s like manual mode. Only to stop it from continuing to dry.
