Hey, I can't seem to find the button part in the iFixIt store, is it not available? Dropped my device and it cranked the button in, it's currently not even booting as it's permanently pressed in.

Perhaps I'm not using the correct terminology. It's the power button on the top right corner of the device which also acts as a fingerprint reader. I'm looking at online pictures and it seems like an iPad Air 5th Gen.

Hi Rodrigo,

I think timtom7777 was thinking of the older style home buttons that used to have the fingerprint reader / Touch ID built into it. On yours they've moved the fingerprint reader to the power button so there's no longer a home button interrupting the bottom part of the screen.

Anyway, as it turns out, the iPad Air 4 and iPad Air 5 use the same power button so you can get one here on iFixit if you go the the iPad Air 4 parts list.

These come in different colors, so you'll want to get the one that matches your iPad.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an iFixit guide for either the iPad Air 4 or 5, but I did find a Spanish site called Nadie Me Llama Gallina (Nobody Calls Me Chicken in English) that has just what you need.

Keep in mind that just because they moved the Touch ID sensor to the power button doesn't mean it's any more repairable than the old home button with Touch ID was. Basically, replacing the button will result in the loss of the fingerprint reader function; it's paired to the logic board with a proprietary encryption algorithm that only Apple has access to, so they're the only ones who can replace that button and keep your Touch ID working. It will still work to turn your iPad on and off, but it will no longer read a fingerprint.
