Failed bios update. Booted to windows once.

I have a FA506QE* it failed during a bios update due to user error. It was able to boot into windows on the first restart but afterwards it is no longer able to boot. Indicator lights and LEDs turn on but the fans don’t. The interior hasn’t been modified and it is past warranty. I am unable to interact with BIOS due to screen being black at the default 144 hz, a common issue across all tuf gaming devices.

Hi,

Did you mean FA506QE*?

Try a power refresh and check if that resolves the problem.

Here’s the procedure:

a). Disconnect the charger from the laptop if connected.

b). Disconnect the main battery from the motherboard. Here’s a teardown the video for the laptop. that may help

c). Press and hold the laptop's Power On button for a full 30 seconds and then release it

d). Reconnect the main battery and re-assemble the laptop.

fe) When the laptop is completely re-assembled, connect the charger and try to turn on the laptop.

If it starts OK there may be a message about the date and time being incorrect. This is normal as the BIOS has been completely reset back to its default settings. Once the date and time have been adjusted the message won’t appear the next time that the laptop is started.

If you had previously changed any user defined settings in BIOS to suit whatever specific hardware configuration that you had for the laptop, then these will have to be set again.

Can’t view bios as screen is blacked out at 144hz what keys do I have to press to just proceed if it opens?

@Fish

The reset was just to see if the laptop started.

BIOS doesn't operate at 144Hz. It is basic vga video resolution as the drivers are in the BIOS chip.

Increased video resolution occurs when the OS is loaded and specific drivers are installed

@jayeff

are you sure it wasnt operating at 144Hz or any other hz higher than 60hz? mine is really black in the first few seconds of opening the laptop (where you can see the ASUS logo) and the Bios.. tho I dont have any problems encountered and it will just return to win 10. Im just wondering how can I fix and see the Bios, is it hardware issues? can I default it to 60?

I think that your laptop has two GPUs.

The Ryzen CPU has integrated graphics and there is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti discrete GPU.

If you can try using the Nvidia control panel and make the Ryzen GPU the primary GPU so that when it starts you should be using that for everything and check if you can get into BIOS via Windows

Although if the problem occurred during a BIOS update then you may have to restore the BIOS to the previous version using Asus BIOS Flashback. Haven't ever had an Asus product so I don't know how to do this so you may want to look it up online
