I did a bad thing when trying to fix my track pad

Hi! I am determined to finish this repair myself! (Mostly because it suddenly dawned on me that I could have just bought a fancy external mousepad by now) Anyways, I have watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieZh6yww... a half dozen times (Bless Binh and his Ginea Pig) And of course when I got the parts I got all spitfire like I could just talk to computers like Binh and just went at it and foolishly pulled out the connection part that is mounted to the left just above the center screw with the old cable. Stoooooooooopid. What do I do? There are two broken pins. :( Do I get to add a soldering knife to my tool kit? I promise to be patient. I should have been patient and watched the video and followed along. Learning is expensive. Help me please? please. thank you!

So I did buy a new track pad with the cable. It was when I was taking out the old cable I accidentally pulled that connection. So that connection is for that microphone? I’m totally cool without a microphone!

So I did the Install of the new parts minus that one connection but now the keyboard doesn’t work. It worked before the repair :/ gonna have to hook up a keyboard to see what is happening.

Thank you for your help!

If it is damaged you will most likely need to solder on a new one which I can help you along with over the answers forum

Hopefully this helps

Any questions please ask

@mmmara

I have had a look and you will probably have to replace your trackpad

Or you could find one that isn’t fully working and desolder the connector from the other side of the board

But it’s entirely up to you

No matter what choice you make I am here if you need any help:-)
