Missing a screw from the HP EliteBook

Recently I found out there is missing screw from my HP EliteBook. This causes one side of hinge open with a "crack" noise and open up. Is there way to fix it without replacing the screw? If not, what size of the screw should I get to replace this missing screw

Hi,

Here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop.

Go to p.76 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the display assembly. This will allow you to check the hinges to see if the hinge mounting post in the bottom base assembly has broken etc and this is why the screw came out and went missing or if it was just a loose screw.

The hinge screw is a PM 2.5 x 5.0 screw The supplier linked is an example only to show the screw. Search online for PM 2.5 x 5.0 screw to find suppliers that suit you best.

Note: a PM screw is a Pan head Machine screw which is designed to screw into a threaded hole. Do not confuse this with a M2.5 x 5.0 screw which is just the metric sizing of the screw i.e. 2.5mm diameter x 5.0 mm length and could have various head types, thread sizes and types etc.

If the screw mount is broken you will need to replace the bottom base assembly (part #821181-001) or contrive somehow to secure the hinge/screw with a suitable metal to plastic adhesive (epoxy?) etc. Search online using the part number only to find suppliers of the part.
