Hi @jayjay03

According to the maintenance and service guide for the laptop some of the compatible HDDs used in the laptop are sata III type and some a sata II type. (data transfer rate 6GB/s and 3GB/s)

Sata III is backward compatible with sata II so as the one you linked is sata III, it should work.

Here's another supplier of SSDs just to show what is compatible.

They also supply a link to download "cloning" software so that you can clone the HDD in the laptop to the SSD before changing it and then once changed it is a seamless transition. Most reputable suppliers have this feature. Not advocating this supplier. It's your choice ;-)

How to connect the SSD to clone the HDD info is availabale online. Just search for "clone hdd to new ssd laptop".

Notice that they supply a 9.5mm adapter with their SSD.

This is actually a spacer that sits under the SSD in the HDD bay of the laptop so that the SSD is raised to the correct height and lines up with the connector that it plugs into rather than going in at an angle which may give a problematical connection.

HDDs are a lot thicker than the modern 7mm SSD

I could not find the specs on the BUS speed to see if it is 3.0 Gb/s or 6.0 Gb/s, so get a backward compatible SSD drive such as the Crucial MX500.

NONE - get an SSD. The speed difference is overwhelming.

Samsung, WD, PNY, Kingston, Crucial

Look for a sale

Yeah, there are more than an HDD but worth it.

your use and what you save on the LT determines how big.

Most people are good with 256GB unless you are saving pictures, videos, music. or are doing some serious work on it.

Base it on how much is currently used on your HDD.
