Where is the airport card located

My macbook took a hard fall and screen got damaged, also when i connect it to a monitor, it says the there is no blue tooth or WiFi hardware. I’m guessing the airport card got damaged to. However, I can’t seem to find the location of the airport card ? The model of my MacBook Pro is A1706.

Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t the MacBooks have their antennas as part of the display assembly

I know that was the case with the pre2016 ones

But once again correct me if I’m wrong:-)

@hellomacos so the antennas need replacement?

- de

I would say so yes!

It seems wrong to say that it’s the WiFi chips as if the fall was the culprit I’m surprised that it didn’t damage any other parts of the logic board as Iv seen bent boards that still retain full functionality

The only thing is that the WiFi antennas are embedded under where it say “MacBook Pro “ on the chin of the display

I would try unplugging the connectors for the WiFi and pugging them back in as after a fall it can dislocated some connectors and cause them to act strange :-)

Solución Elegida

This model doesn’t use an airport card The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth components are soldered to the logic board. There are three components that need to be sourced and replaced from the same model logic board as they are serialised.

Hey, thanks would you be able to point out the components from the picture I posted?

@vic007 The Wi-Fi IC is above the three antenna cables. The other two chips are on the other side of the board on your model. There might not be a problem with the IC as it could be a faulty or nudged component on the power or data lines that feed the chip or the Wi-Fi IC just needs to be reballed because one of the pads has become cracked and oxidised after a drop. You can obtain free schematics and Board view software from the internet than you could use a multimeter to locate the problem.
