Is iPhone 8 charging coil at risk of fire?

Hi guys. I replaced an iPhone 8 battery today and the person who changed the battery before me didn’t use the right adhesive, so they put a strip of battery adhesive (not the correct iPhone battery adhesive) over the wireless charging coil to hold the battery down. I had no other way of removing the battery and I wasn’t aware of this so when I removed the battery, it also ripped out the top layer of the wireless charging coil and left a silver surface visible under the first layer. I cleaned it up as much as I could and put tape over the remains of the battery before using the correct battery adhesive and sealing the phone back up again and it still works.

I’m not going to use the wireless charging, but is the iPhone at risk of catching fire or something because some of the wireless charger was removed?

Thanks guys

The coil itself shouldn't catch fire, it's made of metal and a cover I'm quite convinced should not be flammable. But you have a battery sitting on it and not knowing which kind of damage the coil sustained, it can't be ruled out it may overheat. Since you're not planning to use the iPhone with wireless charger, it would be safer in principle to just remove the coil. It's just glued to the case, it shouldn't be difficult to remove it with some moderate heat.
