How to replace fans, where to buy fans?

I've had my laptop for 3 years and the CPU fan is starting to get really loud (not loud like rpm loud but like grinding Ish sound). I was wondering what the easiest way to replace the fan was and where I should get the fan. Should I replace both just because? Thanks.

Hi @cj3shots,

What is the full model number of the laptop as shown on the product information label.

I have found 10 different FX505 models and they all don't use the same fans for the CPU and CPU e.g. FX505-DD, -DV, -DY, -GE, -GM just to name a few, so if you decide to replace them you need to get the correct ones for your model.

@jayeff It is a FX505DT according to system information

Hi @cj3shots ,

Here's a video that may help. It shows how to access the fans in a -DY laptop but it should be the same for your model.

If the fan(s) needs to be replaced, for an Asus FX505-DT model, the part number for the CPU fan is 13NR00S0M09111 and for the GPU fan is 13NR00S0M10111. Search online using the part number only in the search box of your browser, to get results for suppliers that suit you best.

Note: the same fans are also used in the following models -DD, -DY, -GD, -GE, & -GT. This is just in case the suppliers don't mention your model in the description, but do mention one of these.
