Using macOS Extended Partition for Mojave Reinstallation on MBP 2019

When I try to install Mojave with internet recovery on MBP 2019 by formatting my drive as Extended Journaled Partition, it says “This Mac can only install macOS on APFS- formatted drives”.

Is there any way I can get through it and install it with extended journaled partition? I think my SSD has some serious issues with APS formatted drive as it gets corrupted every time I reinstall macOS and crashes the MacBook.

Also, out of curiosity: should I also try APFS with Apple Partition Map instead of GUID Partition Map to check if it resolves the issue? (I have little knowledge about it)

A 2019 Mac has no SSD, just some memory chips soldered to the logic board, thus you can’t go against APFS indications in any way.

Apple partition map scheme works only for older Macs, not your case: https://support.apple.com/guide/disk-uti...

It seems like your Mac has a board failure since there’s no user replaceable hard drive. Try using a different OS if you can get somehow a bootable pendrive from a friend, just in case. In case that fails too, you got a logic board issue, that needs repair or replacement.

Lets clarify a few issues Apple updated the file system from HFS+ to APFS this sits on top of the GUID partition you created. APFS is required for newer macOS versions, they will not install on HFS+

So if you truly have a problem with APFS structure on your 2019 MacBook Pro then we would be seeing quite a few systems encountering issues on that or any of the newer MacBook Pro’s since 2016.

So I don’t see how the OS structure would be the issue. I would look deeper into the systems RAM and flash storage as both can encounter failures which could lead to corruption.

Did you get your system wet at some point? Corrosion is a likely root cause here one or two solder joints could be flaky.
