Scarlett, I can understand how frustrating this can be. Especially when it happens at the most inconvenient times. However, occurrences like these do happen from time to time and are common. Most of the main causes for these are as follows.

  • The location in which you live can have an effect based on your carriers cell signal
  • Your phone’s antennas can also not handle having very little signal, so instead the phone assumes that you do not have any cell signal.
  • Some phone carriers have blackouts of network signal from time to time as well, meaning that you and others nearby may also be suffering from the same fate.

My suggestion is to contact your cell phone carrier (ex. Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, MetroPCS, etc.) and inform them about the issues you are having. There is a good chance that you carrier may not be aware of a network outage in your area, and they can get to work on fixing it. Or they can give you in detail some more information about where there network is covered in your area.

Also if you would like to investigate further yourself, there are websites that will show you on a map, what kind of network coverage you have and how strong that network signal is.

Hope that this maybe clears up some of the issues you may be having! If you need further information please feel free to reply to my comment, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
