What is this burnt chip on my laptop?

I have an acer Aspire A717-72G that won't turn on.

I've identified a burnt out chip that looks like some form of power IC. It's labelled BAA7YB but o can't find anything online.

Could someone ID it for me and let me know where i can get a replacement?

Hi @fixifynz,

What is the motherboard’s board number? (printed on motherboard itself)

Search online for (insert board number) schematics to hopefully find them. I couldn’t find a free download using the laptop’s make and model number but sometimes the board number gives better results.

If you do then the component’s board ID number (is it PO7201 or PU7201 perhaps - bit obscured in the image) will help you to find the component in the schematics and it should have the component information written there.

The schematics will also help you to find out why it failed e.g. another component that was faulty and caused it to fail perhaps or whether it was just component failure itself.

If you can’t find a free download, here’s a link where you can buy it

Thanks, I paid for a schematic that turned out to be slightly wrong but found the correct schematic in the end. Label was PU7201 and it's a SY8288RAC_QFN20 chip.

Have ordered and fingers crossed it's the only problem. The charger was faulty (shorted across +-) so wondering if the fried chip killed the charger somehow, or vice versa.
