How do I recover data from MacBook Pro ssd?

I got a macbook pro does not boot and does not power on. It used to but screen was black.

I just need to get my data from ssd. I am thinking of buying an m.2 to usb adaptor to get my data. I know it has a different interface from the usual, my problem is I’m a window/linux guy. I don’t know if this will work. Is the ssd encrypted?

I want to know before I throw away $25 and a couple of weeks of waiting for the adapter to arrive from china

Contesta esta pregunta Yo también tengo este problema

Es esta una buena pregunta?

Sorry Apple uses their own physical interface which is not M.2!

Simply put english and metric bolts use different wrenches!

Here’s the needed cases: Apple SSD enclosures

I know they used a different interface. Did you even read my question?

My question is if this approach will work or is the apple ssd encrypted by default or something?

Could I just copy files after i used a usb adapter?

@jayeff - Fingers have a mind of their own! I have a full set of wenches, some small, some large ;-}

@matureraven - You need to start at the physical space, then you need to deal with the OS, what are you using on this Mac? As well as how. macOS Sierra or older (10.12) or High Sierra and newer (10.13), MS Windows or Linux.

Until we know that we can't deal with drive encryption. As different OS's offer different options and solutions.

I'm currently using a windows pc. Like I said the mac is broken. I think the MacOs is latest one available last year. I remember upgrading it last year but forgot the name. Not really a mac person. This is my aunt's mac.

If you're terribly lucky your disk drive (or SSD) is not on the far side repair and you may be ready to fix the matter yourself and so get access to your files. If your drive has issues and you become alert to this before the machine crashes, or if you manage to urge it up Associate in Nursingd running once more (or within the case of a drive your waterproof is ready to find it), the primary issue to try and do is launch Disk Utility.

Open Disk Utility - You’ll realize this within the Utility folder, within your Apps folder, or by finding out it exploitation Spotlight Search. (Press Command+Space to trigger this).

Click on the disk you're involved in from the list on the left, and so click attention. You can see a message indicating that attention will check the quantity for errors. it'll then repair the quantity if necessary. You will see a warning that attention has to temporarily lock the boot volume. this suggests that whereas attention is running apps will not be responsive. the method in all probability will not take long. If throughout the method Disk Utility detects any problems and it's simply fastened, then it ought to be resolved quickly.

If you are able to fix the hard drive or SSD in your Mac (or an external drive) using Disk Utility you will hopefully be able to recover your files. We suggest you back up your Mac at this point before running the risk of the disk failing again.
