Hi,

Are you asking about one of the two USB ports on the left side or the USB port on the right side of the laptop?

I am referring to the USB C charging port on the left side.

Hi,

Is the charging port physically broken or just not working?

Does the other USB-C charge port on the same side still work OK? (According to the user manual it has two charge ports on the left side)

If physically broken then the motherboard will have to be removed from the laptop so that the port can be replaced. Unfortunately the charge port is not mounted on a separate module making it easy to replace. It is soldered onto the motherboard.

Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. Go to p.36 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the systemboard

Replacing the USB-C port (see pinout diagram) is not an easy thing to do if you have little or no experience with smd (surface mounted device) soldering techniques.

USB-C connectors are a lot harder than standard USB connectors because there are so many more pins that need to be soldered to the board. Standard USB ports only have 4 pins.

You may have to contact a reputable, professional laptop repair service and ask for a quote to remove / replace the port or if the second charge port still works OK then resign yourself to only having one working port on that side as it may not be a cheap repair.
