How do I replace the circuit board power switch?

I’m talking about the switch connected to the circuit board, not the plastic red/green cover that you manipulate from the outside of the headphones. What is the procedure for replacing the broken switch itself? Is welding required?

Hi Kenneth, can you please share the ebay listing you have bought from. I have exactly the same issue and can only find the plastic bit. Cheers

Hi,

Most probably the original switch will have to be unsoldered from the circuit board and the new switch soldered in its’ place.

It may be a smd type component (it’s a bit hard to tell from the image (see below). If it is then you’ll need smd soldering skills and tools to do the repair.

The hard part might be sourcing the correct replacement switch. It may even be a Bose proprietary switch i.e. made especially for or even by Bose, which will make it harder to get unless you can find a part number for it

Here’s a blown up image of the power switch taken from the ifixit Desmontaje PARCIAL de Bose QuietComfort 35 guide, that shows the switch.

Thanks. Actual switch is below the cover in the picture. I ordered one on e-Bay, but I’m not clear on how it installs. If it requires soldering, I may need to outsource.

Update: I took the headphones and switch to a cell phone/electronics repair Shop, and they soldered the new switch in place. Works like new!

I had the same issue and was able to send in my Bose QC35 to a company that repairs electronics by the name Joesge. They informed me on what was broken (in my case the switch) and repaired it and they work great. Painless process for me so it's an option if anyone else wanted to try their luck.

I have the same problem. I replaced the top portion myself a few times but unfortunately prying the metal from the plastic base has broken off the plastic nobs on the ends that tightly holds the metal snug so it looks like I now have to replace the entire switch.

The switch for the QC35 is JS207011SCQNR. I ordered from Mouser Electronics

My QC35 switch malfunctioned about 16 months after purchase and same bad experience with Bose CS. Took my QC35 to the local UbreakIfix, I provided the new switch I purchased from Mouser Electronics to replace the old switch. They did an excellent, solid job of soldering, maybe better than factory. If it last a year I will be happy.

How much did the local repair shop charge? Trying to figure out if I should purchase the switch and take it somewhere locally or use the online repair service.
