My Galaxy Tab A by Samsung has been stuck on 12%. It has not died or changed percentage. There shouldn’t be any issue with the charger but whenever I plug it in a big red mark shows up over the percentage. If this helps our WiFi has been faulty recently. I have restarted it and charged it to no avail. No rush for an answer, I just find this super strange.

Please verify which Tab A 8.0 model it is by listing the model number, if it is different to what is shown here as there are several Tab A 8.0 models e.g. 2015 = SM-T355, 2018 =SM-T387, 2019 =SM-T295 etc. This will help to give you a better answer if the tablet may need to be opened. (click on Options > Edit to update your question if necessary)
Use a strong light and a magnifying glass to check that the charge port is clear of any obstructions that may be preventing a good electrical connection. If there is anything there then do not use a metal pin or probe to try and clear the obstruction as it may damage the pins or cause electrical problems in the tablet. Use a vacuum cleaner to try and suck it out. It it fails to dislodge the obstruction, try using a sharpened wooden toothpick to gently prise it out
Have you tried using a different compatible charger to try and charge the tablet and check what happens when you try? If it works OK use a DMM’s Voltmeter function to check that the original charger's DC voltage output is as specified on the charger.
Regarding the WiFi, what is the problem with it?
If there is no or only a poor signal and connection drop outs occur etc, try using the tablet’s WiFi as close as possible to the router and check if the connection works and is steady. If so it may be an antenna problem.
